Introduction

Welcome to the documentation for IDnow DocIDV. This documentation will guide you through using IDnow's identity verification services into your application.

IDnow DocIDV provide SDK and API that is used to verify the identity of a person and establish ownership and authenticity of their ID document.

It is an evolution of our AutoIdent and VideoIdent products, providing a single SDK and API for automated, hybrid, and agent-assisted flows.

Products

IDnow DocIDV covers the following products:

IDnow AutoIdent

IDnow AutoIdent is our automated identity verification product. The verification process includes the following steps:

  • Document classification: Automatic determination of the document type (e.g. Passport, ID-card, Driver's license) and version (e.g. German passport)
  • Data extraction: Retrieval of personal data from the document using OCR and chip reading
  • Biometric comparison: Selfie capture compared against the document photo
  • Liveness detection: Ensures the person is physically present during the verification
  • Authenticity verification: Detection of document tampering and fraud indicators

IDnow VideoIdent

IDnow VideoIdent allows to verify the identity of a person along with a verification if the document used is genuine in a process guided by an IDnow Ident Specialist. The user and the IDnow Ident Specialist are interacting with each other during this process using a video-chat.

IDnow eID

German government introduced RFID chip based electronic ID cards in November 2010 and slowly these ID cards have been provided to more and more citizens every year. It is estimated that by end of 2020 all german citizens will possess this new ID card. Usage of this card has been accepted by BSI (Bundesamt für Sicherheit in der Informationstechnik) for digital identification of the citizens.

IDnow eSign

IDnow eSign is a contract signing products that issue qualified electronic signatures (QES) and advanced electronic signatures (AES) on one or more PDF documents. Refer to the IDnow DocIDV esign overview for a full description of each variant.
