General

What is IDnow DocIDV?

IDnow DocIDV is IDnow's document-based identity verification solution. It provides an SDK and API used to verify the identity of a person and establish ownership and authenticity of their ID document. It is an evolution of the earlier AutoIdent and VideoIdent products, providing a single SDK and API for automated, hybrid, and agent-assisted flows.

Which products does DocIDV cover?

DocIDV covers the following products:

  • IDnow AutoIdent automated identity verification (document classification, data extraction, biometric comparison, liveness detection, and authenticity verification).
  • IDnow VideoIdent identity verification guided by an IDnow Ident Specialist over a video chat.
  • IDnow eID RFID chip-based reading of electronic ID cards (e.g. the German eID).
  • IDnow eSign & InstantSign contract signing products that issue qualified electronic signatures (QES) and advanced electronic signatures (AES).

For details, see Core Features.

Integration

What integration options are available?

DocIDV offers multiple integration options:

  • Mobile SDKs native SDKs for iOS and Android.
  • Native Apps pre-built iOS and Android apps available from the app stores.
  • Web Browser a web-based solution usable standalone or embedded via iFrame or WebView.
  • REST API a backend-only integration via REST API calls.

How do I get started?

Pick the integration that fits your use case:

Where can I test the API?

You can explore and run the API directly from our Postman collection. See Tools & Samples for the collection and other resources.

Platform support

Which browsers and operating systems are supported?

The officially supported browser and OS combinations, along with iOS and Android SDK support windows, are listed in the Compatibility matrix.

note

Many browsers and combinations beyond the officially supported list also work — in particular Chrome derivatives. However, Firefox on mobile is not compatible with the Facetec liveness check, so that combination is not supported.

How long is each SDK version supported?

Each SDK release has a defined End-of-Support and End-of-Life date. We recommend keeping your integration on a supported version to continue receiving fixes and updates. The full schedule per version is published in the Compatibility matrix.

Languages

Which languages are supported?

DocIDV supports 25 languages and automatically uses the end user's browser or device language. If that language is not supported, it defaults to English. See Languages for the full list and for how to force a specific language.

tip

For the best user experience, allow the SDK to use the device language rather than forcing a language code explicitly.
